Welcome to CAP Space, an interactive repository of Curriculum, Assessment and Pedagogy for associate-degree programs in computing. CAP Space is the home site of the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC), which is devoted to advocacy and resources for computing education at associate-degree granting colleges and similar post-secondary institutions throughout the world.

We urge you to become a registered user of CAP Space and to participate in our discussion forums, and of course we welcome your feedback and invite you to contact us.

ACM Survey on Computing Programs in Community Colleges

Strategic Summit on the Computing Education Challenges at Community Colleges

The ACM CCECC conducted the Strategic Summit on the Computing Education Challenges at Community Colleges on April 28‐30, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. Funded by the National Science Foundation’s “Advanced Technological Education” program, and with the express intent of providing a foundation and impetus for future NSF ATE grant proposals, the goal of the Summit was to identify the major challenges facing computing education in America’s community colleges. The report of findings, “Digitally Enhancing America’s Community Colleges ► ► ► Strategic Opportunities for Computing Education” identifies twenty specific challenges and associated opportunities identified by the diverse group of Summit participants. Copies of the report are being disseminated to community colleges across the United States; the report is now available for download from the CCECC website.

Strategic Planning Materials

To assist computing faculty and academic administrators to pursue the opportunities identified in the report of findings from the Summit, the CCECC has compiled a variety of strategic planning materials. These include a compilation of numerous Computing Education Resources, a collection of Potential Strategic Planning Initiatives responsive to the Summit findings and an assortment of Funding Opportunities. In addition, we are making available our Strategic Planning Template, a poster‐sized presentation of the twenty Summit findings designed to foster interactive discussion and follow‐up activities. The Template can be previewed at the CCECC website; a printed copy is available upon request via our “Contact Us” form.
